RETURN TO SELF JOURNAL

An Unfiltered Journey Back to Yourself

What if the thoughts you're avoiding are the very thoughts that need your attention?

You've tried pushing through.

You've tried staying positive.

You've tried telling yourself you're fine.

But beneath the surface, there may be emotions, frustrations, fears, resentments, grief, and truths that have never been fully expressed.

The Return to Self Journal was created to give those thoughts a place to land.

This is not a gratitude journal.

This is not a journal filled with inspirational quotes and surface-level prompts.

This is a guided invitation to tell the truth.

The truth you've been afraid to say out loud.

The truth you've been carrying for years.

The truth your body, mind, and heart may be asking you to acknowledge.

what's included:

You'll be guided to explore the emotions, beliefs, and patterns that may be keeping you disconnected from yourself.

Some Of The Questions You'll Explore:

"__________ really makes my blood boil."

"I still believe I have to __________ to be loved and accepted."

"What I'm pretending not to know is __________."

"My biggest secret is __________."

The goal isn't to find perfect answers.

The goal is to become honest with yourself.

Why This Journal Is Different:

Most journals ask you to focus on what you're grateful for.

And gratitude can be beautiful.

But sometimes what we need most is a safe place to acknowledge what hurts.

What we're angry about.

What we're afraid of.

What we're grieving.

What we're longing for.

Return to Self creates space for those conversations.

Because healing begins with honesty.

Designed To Be Written in By Hand

This journal is intentionally provided as a printable PDF rather than a fillable digital workbook.

Why?

Because there is something powerful about putting pen to paper.

Writing by hand encourages you to slow down, become present, and connect more deeply with what you're feeling.

Print the pages or keep a dedicated notebook nearby as you work through the prompts.

Give yourself permission to write without editing, censoring, or judging what comes out.

After Each Journaling Session:

Take 10 minutes to support your nervous system by choosing one of the following:

• Sit quietly in silence

• Practice meditation

• Move through a gentle Yin Yoga practice

• Take a slow, mindful walk

No fixing.

No analyzing.

Just allowing.

Julie Jamison

I know what it’s like to live in a body that won’t relax.

To feel like you’re always holding something.
Always pushing.
Always trying to fix what feels wrong.

I've tried everything to heal.

But the real shift didn’t happen until I stopped forcing my body to do…
and started supporting my nervous system.

That’s what I guide you through here.

faqs:

Why isn't this a fillable PDF?

This journal was intentionally designed to be printed and completed by hand.

While digital journaling can be convenient, writing on paper creates a different experience.

It encourages you to slow down, become more present, and connect more deeply with your thoughts and emotions without the distractions that often come with screens.

The Return to Self Journal is meant to be an invitation to unplug, reflect, and reconnect with yourself.

How long does it take to complete the journal?

The Return to Self Journal was designed as a 31-day practice.

Each day, you'll be guided through a journaling prompt and encouraged to spend a few minutes honestly exploring whatever thoughts, emotions, or insights arise.

Most people find that setting aside 15–30 minutes per day for journaling, followed by 10 minutes of meditation, silence, Yin Yoga, or another calming practice, creates a meaningful and sustainable rhythm.

That said, this isn't about rushing to the finish line (I'm talking to my over achievers!). If a particular prompt feels especially powerful, give yourself permission to spend extra time with it before moving on.

The goal isn't to complete the journal as quickly as possible—it's to return to yourself, one day at a time.

What if I feel resistance to a prompt or don't know how to answer it?

This is a normal part of the process, which is why I included a section to help you move through resistance so that you'll feel supported.

You may find yourself wanting to skip a prompt, distract yourself, close the journal, or convince yourself that a particular question doesn't apply to you.

Pause for a moment and get curious.

Ask yourself:

"What is it about this prompt that feels uncomfortable?"

Sometimes resistance is simply a sign that you've touched on an emotion, belief, memory, or truth that hasn't had much space to be acknowledged.

You don't need to force yourself to write pages and pages. Start with one sentence. Write down what you're feeling in that moment—even if it's:

"I don't want to answer this question."

"I have no idea what to write."

"This prompt makes me uncomfortable."

Often, the act of being honest about your resistance is where the journaling begins.

Move at a pace that feels supportive, but don't be surprised if the prompts that create the most resistance are also the ones that offer the greatest insight & breakthroughs.

What makes this journal different from other journals?

Many journals focus on gratitude, goal setting, or daily reflection.

The Return to Self Journal was created to help you explore the thoughts, emotions, fears, frustrations, beliefs, and desires that often remain unspoken.

Its purpose is to create space for radical honesty and deeper self-awareness.

This is why affirmations and trying to manifest without doing any of the shadow work: going deep and excavating, just doesn’t work.

How can we invite in sustainable joy when our bodies are filled with rage, shame, sadness, grief, etc.?

What happens after I purchase?

You can begin your journey right away by printing the journal or using a notebook alongside the digital file.

What if difficult emotions come up while journaling?

This is completely normal.

Many people spend years avoiding certain thoughts, feelings, memories, or experiences. If strong emotions arise, consider taking a break and supporting yourself with a calming practice such as meditation, silence, gentle movement, Yin Yoga, or a mindful walk.

Remember, you don't need to force anything.

Is this journal for beginners?

Yes.  In fact, it's for all levels.

You don't need any previous journaling experience to benefit from this journal. The prompts are designed to guide you through the process one question at a time.

Simply show up, be honest, and begin where you are.
